Dude, where's my banner button?

CSB/SJU introduce new web design

By Barbara Hein, Director Electronic Communication

Looking for your Banner button? Trying to find Outlook from the home page of the CSB/SJU Web site? Need to check out the schedule for The Link? Those links, and a host of others, are now conveniently located at the top of the home page under the "Tools" section. No more scrolling down to get to Outlook or searching through the A-Z Index for other frequently used links.

"Tools" is one of the exciting changes being implemented with our new design.

About the Project

The new home page design is the first phase of a complete Web site redesign and the introduction of a new Web content management system (WCMS). This phase includes a new home page, improved site navigation, a new calendar system for enhanced functionality, and improved search features leveraging Google Search.

Goals of new design:

  • Make it easier for prospective students and their families to learn about CSB/SJU and find the content they most want
  • Make it easier for all of us to browse and search CSB/
  • Capture CSB/SJU's unique personality by telling our stories in a rotating carousel on the home page.
  • Create more opportunities for interaction, such as the "factoids" button on the home page which highlights key information that prospective students want to know about our schools, and a tabbed section highlighting key stories from campus, the alumnae and alumni offices, Blazer and Johnnie Sports, and upcoming campus events.

What's Next?

In coming months, we will work with individual departments to migrate their content to the new design. Content that is specifically created for internal audiences will be moved to SharePoint Intranet at that same time.
