Locating Periodicals in the CSB and SJU Library Buildings
Periodicals (also called journals, magazines, and serials) are arranged alphabetically by title at both libraries. Where a particular title is shelved depends on its date, format (print or microform) and, at SJU, whether its focus is theological.
Note: To see what titles the libraries have, search Journal Finder.
In the CSB Library (Clemens):
- The most recent issues are found on the slanted periodical shelving of the Periodicals Area.
- Older issues, whether they are bound or on microfilm, are found in the Periodicals Stacks.
- Microfilm readers and copiers are available in the Media Area of the CSB Library.
- Newspapers on microfilm and microfilm collections are also in the Media Area.
In the SJU Library (Alcuin):
- The most recent issues of non-theological periodicals are found on slanted shelves in the Reading Room of the Upper Level.
- The most recent issues of theological periodicals are found in the Reading Room on the Lower Level.
- Older issues back to 1985 are found in the Periodical Stacks on the Upper Level.
- Older issues dated 1984 and earlier, except those on microfilm, are found in the Periodical Stacks in the Basement.
- All issues on microfilm, for any year, are found in the Periodical Stacks on the Upper Level.
- Microfilm readers and copiers are located on the Upper Level.
- Newspapers on microfilm and microfilm collections are also on the Upper Level, in cabinets near the readers.
