Q. What is Find It/SFX?
A. Find It/SFX is the library's full-text linking system. If the database you're searching doesn't have the full text of an article you want, Find It or SFX can often find it for you.

Q. What does Find It/SFX do?
A. Click the Find It/SFX button to see a menu of options for the item you want. Menu options can include
  • Full text - goes directly to the article or the journal that has the article.
  • CSB/SJU Public Catalog - searches the library catalog to see if the item is in our library.
  • Request via Interlibrary Loan Request Form - for items not available in full text or found in the CSB/SJU Public Catalog, we'll get it from another library.

Q. Can I use Find It/SFX from home?
A. Current students/faculty/staff of the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University can use it from home. More information about off-campus access is available on the off-campus access to library resources page.

Q. Why does the menu offer several full text links for the same article?
A. If an article is available from more than one source, we offer all of them. When one source is temporarily unavailable, you have other choices.

Q. Why is the full text not always available?
A. The option to link to full text is shown on the menu when the Library has subscribed to the full text of the journal title. If the option to link to full text is not on the menu, then the Library does not license the full text for the particular title or the title may not be available in full text. If the full text link is not shown, be sure to check the CSB/SJU Public Catalog link to see if the journal is available in print form.

Q. Why do several windows open when using Find It/SFX?
A. By using multiple windows, your original search results stay active and all database menu options remain available.

Q. Where is the Find It button in JSTOR?
A. Articles that aren't full-text in JSTOR have a link titled "link to article" with each citation. Clicking this link brings up a screen with the Find It button.

Q. Where is the Find It button in ScienceDirect?
A. The abstract for an article that isn't full-text will include the Find It! button on the right-hand side of the screen under "External Links."

Q. Where is the Find It button in Web of Science and Current Contents?
A. Click on the article title to view the full record. The Find It button is located on the right-hand side.

Q. What if I still have questions or problems using Find It/SFX?
A. If you are having trouble finding what you want, please contact a librarian.

If you are having technical difficulties, please e-mail Miranda Novak.
