Program Review Resources
IT Services is identified in the CSB|SJU Program Review document as one of the consulting resources for Departments and Programs (D&P) under review. Here are some of the resources IT Services can provide as part of this process.
Provide Data to D&P:
I.T. Facilities & Usage Data
- General I.T. facilities and usage report at CSB/SJU
This report describes the various types of technology classroom facilities on campus, presents overall usage data going back several years.
- D&P usage of selected facilities
Selected data on department-specific usage of computer classrooms, presentation facilities, or other facilities may be available for your reports. I.T. Services retains scheduling information for the computer classrooms on campus. Use of other facilities may be available from the office(s) which handles such scheduling.
- Attendance at workshops
Faculty and academic staff attendance in (I.T. training center workshops?), Collaboratorium, or other I.T.-sponsored development opportunities can be provided.
Budgetary Data
- Academic Capital Allocations
The data from Project Impact (FY 1994-98) and subsequent years show I.T. capital allocated for academic departments. For Project Impact years, the budget was spent on desktop/office hardware. In FY 1999 & 2000, the capital expenditures are broken down into desktop/office equipment, discipline-specific software, and classroom technology categories.
- Classroom Technology installations 3-year plan 2003-2005.
Alumni/ae Survey Questions
- Academic use of I.T.
I.T. Services created 10 questions which D&P can adapt for inclusion in the PSAS graduate survey.

Goal-Setting Questions
Most students are now expected to have some level of I.T. skills for entry into their chosen career. These questions are designed to help D&P identify the discipline-specific skills the curriculum should provide.
- What I.T.-related characteristics should your students possess by the time they graduate?
(What is needed in career markets or for certification/licensure?)
- Are these different for majors and minors?
- Are these characteristics being provided by your current curriculum?
(see Inventory of I.T. Usage, below)
- If not, which course(s) can be used to develop the characteristics?
- Are new courses needed?
- What I.T.-related faculty development or professional enrichment needs do you have?
(Look for disparity between current faculty skills and those needed to fulfill student-related goals in question 1)
Inventory of I.T. Usage
These questions are designed to help D&Ps identify how they currently use I.T.
- How is I.T. used for teaching and learning in the D&P?
- How has this usage changed in recent years?
- What software packages are used within the curriculum?
- What skills do these packages provide to students?
- What is the web presence of the D&P?
- How is I.T. used in clerical support of the D&P?
