American Red Cross – St. Paul, MN ONGOING
The American Red Cross chapter in St. Paul is currently offering summer Information Services internship. The intern program is designed to tailor the internship to meet the student’s educational goals while assisting the Red Cross in meeting strategic goals. The intern will assist the information services manager in supporting the agencies advances in technology; performing computer hardware upgrades and maintenance, along with complete basic network administrative duties such as: server diagnostics, maintenance and preventative monitoring of vital network functions and traffic flow, trouble-shooting network and hardware problems, and assisting in the development of an IS policy manual and other written procedures and policies as needed. The intern should be a senior majoring in computer science, graphic design, business or a related field. Prior knowledge of PC applications such as Novell 4.11, NetWare 3.12, Group Wise 5.2, Corel Office Suite 7.0 and Windows NT 4.0 along with hardware installation and trouble-shooting abilities are preferred. Experience with LAN and network administration is a plus to this position. The unpaid internship is Monday-Friday, 8-10 hours per week. Description: The University of Minnesota is pleased to announce the Bioinformatics Summer Institute’s Internship Program for the summer. This program is supported by the National Science Foundation, The National Institutes of Health, and the Digital Technology Center at the U of M. The mission of the Bioinformatics Summer Institute is to provide the highest possible quality in research experiences. There will be 16 chosen interns that will participate for ten summer weeks with a stipend of $5,500.

Global Deaf Connection is a small non-profit organization seeking a Technology Support Intern to assist with technology setup and functioning. WCCO-TV is looking for interns to fill a variety of opportunities. All opportunities are open to juniors and seniors majoring in applicable fields. 4 Stories allows the intern to learn the techniques of story-telling, producing and writing. The intern will work directly with Randi Kaye on a flexible schedule.
Entertainment interns will help with book program segments, read proposals, transcribe tapes, evaluate movie clips and perform daily office tasks. Interns may also participate in shoots for entertainment and art stories.
Promotions interns will assign inventory and assist in the production of on-air promotions. Interested students should have writing experience and basic production skills as well as a craving for news and an eye for good television.
Special projects interns will compile stories, log tapes, make copies and assist producers and reporters. This intern will help produce longer, in-depth news, investigative and feature stories that run during the 10 p.m. newscast. Interns are relied on to help maintain the tip line, transcribe videotapes and research stories. The intern will go out in the field with reporters, do anchor read, write and edit your own news story.
Research interns will assist in the creation of presentations and tracking of audience data based on market overnight Nielsen ratings, work on special projects related to news and promotion and help the sales team with research to target advertising clients for the station.
Communications interns will help prepare for and work at station-sponsored events, distribute daily news clips reports and provide station tours. Interns will also assist in fulfilling donation requests, searching for opportunities for station involvement and writing press releases.
General news interns will answer the assignment desk phone, take viewer comments and story ideas, and set up interviews. As a part of the internship interns may have the chance to go out on news stories to observe news crews.
Sports interns will be responsible for monitoring sports feeds, logging tapes, searching for file tape and assisting with administrative duties. Interns need to be available to work on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Sales interns will create sales proposals and media kits, coordinate sales/marketing events, use research to develop leads for sales/marketing campaigns, help produce on-air commercial spots, gather spot elements, log tapes, search for file tape and assist with other administrative duties.
Web development interns will help develop and maintain wcco.com. Interested students should have experience in advanced HTML coding, Java Script, VBA and Flash.
Weather interns will work in the 4 Warn Weather Center to help meteorologists prepare for weathercasts. Interested students must have an understanding of meteorology and experience with graphics.

What’s Up? Youth Info Line is a phone-based service staffed by teens. It serves as a single resource for events, attractions, recreational activities, job opportunities and other information that provides healthy and fun activities for youth in Ramsey, Washington, and Dakota Counties. What’s Up? Is looking for new programs to add to the database and update programs anywhere from twice to four times a year. Another aspect of this position relates to the School to Work Partnership. This focuses on career planning and preparation for students. Responsibilities include data-entry, program updates, general upkeep of database, and answering phones on an as needed basis.
