Arthritis Foundation

The Arthritis Foundation is currently offering three fall to spring event planning internship opportunities.  1) The volunteer recruitment intern identifies manpower needs for the St. Cloud Arthritis Walk while recruiting the necessary number of volunteers to fill positions.  The intern will also oversee the volunteer check-in table and conduct training for duties that are assigned.  2) The public relations and marketing intern will assist with the development, management, implementation and evaluation of the St. Cloud Arthritis Walk communication and marketing plans.  The intern will also assist in the development of invitations, programs, catalogs, posters, flyers and event specific newsletters. 3) The  development and fundraising intern will assist the event chair in coordinating the St. Cloud Arthritis Walk, facilitate post-event contact with event sponsors and participants, and organize information materials and publication resources.  Each of the positions is unpaid.  The internship must start no later than January, with the intern working 20 hours per month.  For students needing a minimum of 10 hours a week for academic credit, Jessica will consider combining two of the three positions.  For further information, contact Jessica Dickau.

Arthritis Foundation North Central Chapter – St. Paul, MN                                        ON-GOING
Description: The Arthritis Foundation is offering 3 internship opportunities for the spring.  These are all unpaid opportunities working 5 months (December through May) and intern must start no later than January working 10-12 hours per month.  Also interns MUST be available for the Arthritis Walk.
Arthritis Walk Public Relations and Marketing Intern
Description: Intern will assist with the development, management, implementation and evaluation of the St. Cloud Arthritis Walk communication and marketing plans.
Responsibilities: Assists with coordination of communications and marketing for special events, programs and services, and assists in the development of PSA’s, new releases, invitations, programs, catalogs, posters, flyers and event specific newsletters, assists with establishment and cultivation of working relationships with tri-county media personnel, including sponsorship for the Arthritis Walk and Arthritis Awareness Month.
Requirements: Strong interpersonal communication skills with individual groups, strong time management skills, ability to work efficiently with teams, excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, and intermediate computer skills.

Best Buy Charity Classic Internship – Richfield, MN                        ON-GOING
This full-time summer position plays an integral role in the management of Best Buy Charity Classic.  The Charity Classic is one of the largest fundraisers in Minnesota, raising $2.7 million for the Best Buy Children’s Foundation in.

Description:  Under the guidance of the Development Officer, the Development Intern performs a variety of marketing, fundraising, event planning, research and administrative duties to support the financial development of the Brain Injury Association of MN. 
Responsibilities:  Research new sponsors/attendees in the Dakotas, Iowa and Western Wisconsin using the internet and by connencting with state agencies, research foundation grant opportunities for support, and corrdinate with exhibitors and education department and organize conference day needs.  Also, research foundation funding opportunities and assist in grant applications and assist in creating and implementing a March membership drive.
Qualifications:  Junior and senior pursuing a degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Financial Development, Nonprofit Management or related field.  Reliable, outgoing individual with outstanding computer and organization skills.  Ability to work with others, manage multiple priorities and follow a project through to completion.  Sales, marketing, customer service or event experience helpful.  Approx. 12hrs/wk with a $500 stipend upon completion.

Description:  The Collegeville Institute, a non-profit organization, seeks to promote better understanding and harmony between and among people from different religions and cultures worldwide.  A residential center on the grounds of St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota, The Institute works to dispel religions ignorance and build bridges between faith traditions through scholarship, research, interfaith dialogue and outreach.  Although the Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research is an independent organization, this internship is being offered in cooperation with the College of Saint Benedict and St. John’s University.
Program:  The Collegeville Institute will embark on a major awareness campaign in September to establish it as the top independent resource for research, scholarship, engaged discussion and news about ecumenical and cultural research worldwide.  The strategic public relations program will include positioning, target marketing, brand building, media relations and ongoing communications.
Internship Term/Credit/Compensation:  Ideally, the candidate would be able to serve ten hours per week for a full year, from September to August.  In recognition that some students may only be available for the academic year, qualified applicants who are only able to commit to serving through the academic year from approximately September to May will also be considered.  Earning academic credit for this internship is an option.  Depending on intern’s commitment, a stipend of up to $500 is offered.

Description: The CSB/SJU Bookstores are looking for 2 semester intern who would be able to work 10-12 hours per week.  Projects and work assignments can be done from intern’s residence, computer labs, or at the bookstores.  Interested candidates must have background with graphics and communications software applications.  The intern will work directly with the MIS person, store management, and other to develop a stronger marketing presence on the two campuses. 
Responsibilities: Interns are expected to but are not limited to assist with creating a marketing plan and promotional file for the bookstores, create marketing and communication pieces to promote products, and update current marketing pieces and graphic designs.

Dakota County is currently offering three internships in areas focusing on planning, environmental education and marketing/communication.   
Planning
The Farmland and Natural Area Program is a 20 million dollar, county-wide program to protect 5,000 – 10,000 acres of agricultural land and natural areas.  The intern position may include the following responsibilities:  landowner outreach, developing communication materials, photo documentation, ecological assessments, project coordination and various GIS applications. This is a paid internship.
Environmental Education
The primary duties of this position are to provide leadership in outdoor education programs that will result in high quality experiences for park visitors.  The position will provide on-site coordination of outdoor education programs and will work closely with the public as a program leader.  This person will also assist with facility operation of the visitor center.  This is a March-October position which may include some weekend and evening hours.  Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a science-related field, have a minimum of one year of experience in leading naturalist, outdoor or recreation programs and have a valid Minnesota driver’s license.  Unpaid.
Marketing and Communication
The marketing and communications intern will work with the Parks Communications Specialist on a variety of projects, particularly in the areas of outreach to the community and event planning and coordination.  This position will assist in the marketing effort for the Parks Visitor Services programs including recreation, environmental and outdoor education and facility rental.   Tasks will include writing and distributing press releases, designing flyers, ads and displays; coordinating special events; and implementing outreach efforts to community organizations and schools.  This is a limited term position with flexible hours to be arranged between the intern and the supervisor (10-15 hours/week).  Willing to work with students who wish to arrange for academic credit.
