Arthritis Foundation North Central Chapter – St. Paul, MN                      ONGOING
Description: The Arthritis Foundation is offering 3 internship opportunities for spring.  These are all unpaid opportunities working 5 months (December through May) and intern must start no later than January of current year,  working 10-12 hours per month.  Also interns MUST be available for the Arthritis Walk.
Arthritis Walk Public Relations and Marketing Intern
Description: Intern will assist with the development, management, implementation and evaluation of the St. Cloud Arthritis Walk communication and marketing plans.
Responsibilities: Assists with coordination of communications and marketing for special events, programs and services, and assists in the development of PSA’s, new releases, invitations, programs, catalogs, posters, flyers and event specific newsletters, assists with establishment and cultivation of working relationships with tri-county media personnel, including sponsorship for the Arthritis Walk and Arthritis Awareness Month.
Requirements: Strong interpersonal communication skills with individual groups, strong time management skills, ability to work efficiently with teams, excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, and intermediate computer skills.

Associated Press, Photo Internship Program – New York, NY                              ONGOING
Description: This internship is a highly selective Summer internship. This internship is tailored for students who are aspiring photojournalists or photo editors.  Associated Press will choose a minimum of 2 interns for the Photo Internship Program for this paid internship.
Responsibilities: Intern will work with a designated trainer to help in development. Intern will cover stories that could be featured in media outlets around the state or the globe.
Requirements: Intern must be a junior or senior. Start dates may be anytime between mid- May and mid- June depending on schedule.
Application Process: Write a 300- word essay about the topic described above, submit a resume and cover letter, 2 letters of reference (at least one from a professor or faculty advisor on school letterhead), a portfolio of work (submissions should be jpeg images with captions on a CD. Intern should forego programs that include music or special transitions), a completed application, and an interview with an AP chief of bureau (which can be contacted by finding the nearest AP bureau on the website below). Brain Injury Association of MN – Minneapolis, MN                           ONGOING
The Brain Injury Association of MN is offering a communication internship to a sophomore, junior, or senior who has completed coursework in mass communication, journalism or expository writing.  The intern may be in charge of writing and sending press releases; researching, developing and compiling content for the organization’s electronic newsletter; maintaining the communications database; updating website content; and contributing to the writing, editing, and publishing of the quarterly newsletter.  The intern is asked to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.  The intern will receive training, guidance and feedback in order to develop professional communication skills.  If interested, contact the Volunteer Coordinator.

Catholic Charities – St. Cloud, MN                                           ONGOING
Communication Internship
Description: Catholic Charities is seeking a Communications Intern. Join a dynamic team in our Organizational Advancement t office that handles communication and development for an agency with nearly 600 employees. This internship is a part- time, unpaid (20 hours/week) opportunity.
Responsibilities: The Communications Intern is responsible for assisting the Communications Specialist with planning, coordinating, designing, preparing, and implementing communications and development materials and campaigns. Capstone Press – Bloomington, MN                                              ONGOING

Rochester Neighborhood Resource Center – Rochester, MN
The Rochester Neighborhood Resource Center encourages neighborhood involvement and citizen participation, provides resources and assistance to neighborhood associations, and secures financial and other resources for neighborhoods.  They are looking for a summer intern to help recruit neighborhood volunteers to help with an urban forestation project.  The intern will also compile an instructional handbook and organize the training for the project.  All applicants should have good verbal and written communication skills, have knowledge of computers, possess basic research skills, be organized, reliable, independent workers, work well with a diverse range of people, have an interest in forestry or urban planning, good public speaking skills, and a valid MN driver’s license.  During the summer of 2004 this internship was sponsored by the HECUA Partnership Internship Program.

The Vindicator, a daily newspaper in Youngstown, Ohio, is offering a copy editing intern position.  Strong grammar and spelling skills, familiarity with AP style, experience in headline writing and a willingness to work hard are requirements for the position.  Interns must be current undergraduate college students who are available to work 40 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks.  This is a paid position at $300 a week along with college credit.  Proper verification of U.S. residency or temporary residency must be provided, and applicants who are invited for a two-day, paid tryout must provide two government-issue forms of ID.  A copy of the student’s driving record is also needed.  The deadline to apply is March 20, 2005.  For application and more information, contact Jeff Schoch.

The Walker Art Center now has three internships for the 1999-2000 academic year. These internships are excellent opportunities for students enrolled in public relations/marketing/journalism programs. The marketing intern fills outside requests for marketing materials, researches and updates distribution lists media files.14 hrs/$50/week. The media relations intern gathers background materials for exhibitions and programs, drafts press releases and media alerts, maintains contacts with program areas, assists with kits, clippings and information requests. 14 hrs/$50/week. The public relations intern assembles press kits, clips and circulates press clippings, fill requests from local and national media, researches information questions, labels slides and photos, and maintains PR files. 21 hrs/$75/week.
