Data Analyst
CaringBridge is a fast growing, innovative nonprofit organization that enables unique and personal communities of support that enrich family and friend connections during times of need. They offer free, easy-to-create web sites for anyone in a healthcare crisis to ease the burden of trying to communicate with family and friends during an illness.
Responsibilities: Developing simple to intermediate database queries of usage information, developing simple to intermediate statistical models using data mined from internal sources, investigating and assisting in data analysis, and developing reports for management, board and clients with guidance from management.
Qualifications: Must have basic experience in quantitative analysis, intermediate PC skills primarily with Microsoft Excel, proficiency with numeric data analysis, basic understanding of database principles, ability to learn Microsoft MapPoint and SQL, and basic time management skills. Looking for a 20 hour/week commitment starting mid-September.

Description: Interested in spending a term working alongside leading policy analysts and economists? The Fraser Institute's Internship Program offers university students and recent graduates the unique opportunity to join the Institute for training as junior policy analysts.
Responsibilities: Researching, writing and editing under the direction fo an Institute policy analyst, contributing to a study intended for publication, taking part in policy briefings and a weekly discussion club, writing research articles, meeting visitors to the the Institute and assisting with local Institute events, networking with policy experts, and honing presentation skills at a peer review seminar.
Qualifications: Enrolled, in, or recent graduate ro, an undergraduate or graduate level university program. Proficient in English, both written and verbal, basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet programs and internet research. Stipend of $2,000 per month, compensation may be negotiated based on qualifications, reasonable domestic travel expenses will be reimbursed.

The MN Private College Council/Fund/Research Foundation, related organizations representing 17 private colleges and universities, seek a Research and Policy Intern. Their organization, located in downtown St. Paul, represents over 55,000 students throughout Minnesota. They serve their member colleges through government relations and public policy development, research and analysis, cooperative marketing and communication, intentional engagement with civic organizations and diverse communities, fundraising partnerships with corporations and foundations, and grand acquisitions and administration. Responsibilities: The Research and Policy Intern assists the Research Associate with policy-related research and performs a variety of administrative tasks to support their policy activities during the Minnesota legislative session. The position is responsible for timely analysis and reporting. The intern will collect data, analyze findings and write reports, perform various administrative duties, assist others with projects ad needed.
Qualifications: A student in good standing, good written and oral skills, proficiency in MS Office, ability to interact with staff/public, demonstrated analytical skills, basic knowledge of Minnesota legislative process, detail oriented, and accuracy with attention to detail.

Description: Senator Coleman offers 3 intern sessions per year. The fall session runs from September- December, spring runs from January-May, and summer runs from June- August. The unpaid internships require 40 hour/week commitment.

Requirements: This internship is for students interested in becoming Financial Planners, Stock Brokers, Financial Analysts, Investment Bankers, Corporate Executives, and Investment Counselors. Qualifications include, but are not limited to, being a sophomore or above (two years of college preferred), being detail oriented, possessing excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills (interactions involve matters requiring a professional level of skill, tact, and confidentiality), having good computer skills, and understanding of general mathematical and financial concepts.

The City of Red Wing invites college students at the junior, senior or graduate school level to apply for an Economic Development internship. This internship provides the student with an opportunity to translate theory into practice; to refine practical skills; to understand the organization and duties involved with community and economic development; and to gain experience for future employment. The primary internship project involves research and staff support to complete an Economic Development Plan for the City of Red Wing. The Plan will become an element of the City’s Comprehensive Guide Plan. The intern will work under the direction of the City Planning Director and in coordination with the Red Wing Port Authority, the City’s Economic Development Agency. The internship will extend for approximately 12 weeks. This is a paid internship.

Region 5 Development Commission - Staples, MN
North Central Economic Development Association, Inc. has an opening for an Economic Development Loan Fund Intern. The NCEDA is a non-profit economic development corporation developed to administer the EDA business revolving loan fund in Region 5. The intern will work directly with the economic development director and other staff at Region 5. Job duties will include: performing annual NCEDA site visits, preparing ISTS loan presentations, attending monthly NCEDA loan board meetings, and writing a column for NCEDA’s newsletter. This is a stipend position for the summer and fall of 2002.
