Requirements for Earning Credit

1. Adhere to the program guidelines for minimum hours and duration of an academic internship.

Duration of Internships for Credit:
Academic Year: 16 weeks over one semester
Summer: 12 weeks over summer break

The minimum hour guidelines for earning internship credits:
1 to 4 credits: 160 hours in one semester.
8 credits: 320 hours in one semester.
16 credits: 640 hours in one semester.

*Deviations from these guidelines require prior approval from the academic department and the Internship Coordinator.

2. Attend a Legal and Professional Issues session the semester before you start your internship. A series of sessions are offered in December for spring internships and in April-May for summer and fall internships.

3. Complete the 3-page Registration for Internship Learning Contract and obtain all required signatures. See Registering for Internship Credit.

4. During your internship submit the required means of evaluation as listed on your Registration for Internship Learning Contract form to your faculty moderator on the agreed upon dates. Submit the following reports and evaluations which can be found online at Current Interns:
Intern's First Report
Intern's Second Report
Joint Midterm Evaluation
Supervisor's Final Evaluation
Final Self-Evaluation

5. Schedule and complete a Site Visit or Conference Call with your site supervisor and faculty moderator in the first half of your internship. Email the scheduled date to the Internship Coordinator (jchristle@csbsju.edu) in advance of the site visit or conference call. The Internship Coordinator may also participate.
