Health Information

Health Insurance is required by CSB/SJU and is a necessity in the United States because the cost of health is extremely expensive, especially in the case of emergency care. International students are prohibited from accepting public benefits (e.g., Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare).

Routine dental work and eye examinations are not covered by most health insurance plans. Generally any health problems you experienced prior to enrolling in the health insurance plan will no be covered exclusions such as these are referred to as “pre-existing conditions.

If the health insurance originates from your home country, you must identify health care providers from whom  you would be able to access health care before, or immediately upon, your  arrival in the United States. Proof of the coverage must be included in the health history form submitted prior to arrival on campus.

If you have not done so already, please fill out the health form and submit it to the correct office.

If your coverage does not apply to health care in the United States or you require health insurance, coverage can be obtained through the CSB or SJU student Insurance plan. Proof of insurance must be on file by the time classes begin.
