Shannon Pepin is an Ambassador who studied abroad in Australia.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.
On our trip we spent a week with aboriginal people and it was the most amazing thing of my life. To be able to how a group of people live so differently than everyone else and have such a love for the land was just amazing.
Why did you choose the program in which you participated?
I chose Australia because it was somewhere I had always wanted to go and knew that this would probably be my only chance to go there.
Describe your overall study abroad experience.
The most amazing thing that has ever happened in my life! Everyone should have a chance to do something like this in their lifetime! It has enriched every area of my life.
How has the trip affected you? How are you different for having completed the experience?
This trip has changed me for several reasons. One reason is I look at the world a lot differently and want to learn even more about different countries. Another thing that changed me was being away from my family, now I know I can survive without them if it is necessary.
What advice do you have for future Study Abroad Students?
Take every day as it was your last there and don't let anything pass you by. It is the most amazing thing that will happen in your college career and you will never forget it!
