Sarah Dayton is an Ambassador who studied abroad in Greece and Italy.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.
Eating late at night in Athens because it is the thing to do. The first few weeks we tried to eat at a normal time for us and people would look at us funny but eventually we caught on.
Why did you choose the program in which you participated?
I am a history major and a political science minor. These two places are where it all began and I loved learning in the place all about it.
Describe your overall study abroad experience.
The best experience of my life! I feel like I learned more on this trip than I have in my three years here combined. I have also made many new friends which was beneficial.
How has the trip affected you? How are you different for having completed the experience?
I feel like I am more excepting of other cultures. I realized how different mine was from the Grecians and the Romans. I really liked their culture and hope that I can go back to it at sometime. I also, feel like I brought back part of their culture with me.
What advice do you have for future Study Abroad Students?
Do it! No matter what the cost is. If you don't you will always regret it. Have fun as well and make sure to travel while you are there.
