Image Guidelines and Preferences:
- Johnnies and Bennies interacting with another cultures are wonderful!
- The best images clearly “show” an international setting or some indication of the specific setting.
- Photos should show the meeting and mixing of cultures with people from all over the world
- Be sure to capture the unique atmosphere of the country you visited.
- We prefer photos include CSB/SJU students, but it is not a requirement.
- Pictures should not include alcohol.
- Picture should be a clear, crisp photo with good lighting.
- Photos of students intermingling with individuals from the country are excellent!
- Photos of professors instructing students would be great ... just step back from the group and take some shots.
- Photos with students posing are fine, but we prefer photos where (at least it appears) that students aren't aware of the camera.
FAQ
- WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME? Great prizes! And the opportunity to display your creative work while promoting study abroad.
- WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE PHOTOS APPEAR? Photos will be displayed on our Web site and will be part of an international study exhibit on the CSB/SJU campuses. In addition, the colleges use them for general publications and for the international study brochure. They could be used on the Web and in advertisements. By submitting the photos you are giving us permission to use them.
- I HAVE SOME GREAT SHOTS THAT DON’T HAVE CSB/SJU STUDENTS IN THEM. SHOULD I SUBMIT THEM? Yes. However, we generally prefer photos that include CSB/SJU students.
- HOW MANY SHOULD I SUBMIT? As many as you like, but try and pick out your best photos for submission. Remember that you need to complete a submission for EACH photo.
- WILL I BE CREDITED FOR THE PHOTO IF IT IS USED? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. We do keep your name attached to our digital file, but not all brochures are set up to provide the photography credit.

This photo represents support. The creation of Stonehenge is a mystery; we may not be able to pinpoint an explanation yet it exists. Similarly, we have met and made friends during college. We love our friends and need our friends. We can be weird, we can be bizarre, we support each other. It doesn't matter how we make these friendships, it matters that we have them now.
Third Place: Shannon Conk

This photo was taken from the top of Volcan Tajumulco. At 13,845 feet, it is the highest point in Central America. The day before, a group of about 15 CSB/SJU students, a number of other foreigners, and our Guatemalan guides hiked up to a base camp and spent the night in order to acclimate to the elevation. The next morning we woke up at 4am and hiked the steepest section to the summit in order to be able to view the sunrise. Although it was well below freezing, the view when the sun rose was worth it.
Fourth Place: Mary Alice Riemann

World, meet Innocensia (Inno). She is 5 years old. I met Inno while working at the Imiliwaha Orphanage. During playtime while all the other kids were playing with other CSB/SJU students, I saw Inno sitting alone. I went and scooped her up in my arms, and that is where she stayed for the remainder of our time together. She loved for me to rock her, which I am doing in this picture. Not a day goes by that I do not think of sweet Inno. I wish her nothing but the best, and hope she found someone to love her as much as I do.
