In which program did you participate?  Kenya May Term

Why did you choose the program in which you participated?  I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and explore a culture that I know little about.  Also, the program includes service learning in addition to one class taught by the Kenyan professors.

What advice do you have for future travelers? Study abroad is a double learning experience.  One learns about other culture as well as one's own culture.  So be prepared to answer questions from people about your culture.  And don't hesitate to ask questions to learn and to integrate into visited culture.

Short-Term International Programs

In addition to the outstanding semester study abroad programs offered to students each year; the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University offer a variety of short-term international programs.  These programs typically take place during the Winter Break, Easter Break or Summer Term.  They can range from two to five weeks in length.  These programs change every year depending on student and faculty areas of interest.

The short-term programs offer students who would not otherwise be able to study abroad for a semester the chance to travel internationally during their undergraduate academic career.  In addition, these programs can be a great addition to any semester study abroad program to further enhance students’ global resumes.

For further details about the courses being offered or to sign up for these great opportunities, contact the sponsoring professors or departments. We also encourage you to read through the Student Handbook before you travel abroad.
