International Friends Program

·  About Our International Students

The International Friends Program is an initiative of the International Student Program Office (ISPO) at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University with the aim of establishing relationships between our international students and members of the Saint Ben's/Saint John's community. This is a great opportunity for those involved to learn about and experience different cultures, as well as meet new people and make friends. It is very much a joint venture, in which both the international student and the community member meet throughout the year, as frequently as they wish and for activities of their choice. The ISPO will match students and community members who have similar interests. There is no financial commitment for either host or student. In the past, friends have met for lunch, coffee, or made dinner together. Some community members or families have invited their international friends to stay with them for a short period over break. With no set activities or times to meet there is plenty of room for creativity and fun, enriching the lives of the Saint Ben's/Saint John's community.

The International Friends Program is designed to enrich the Saint Ben's and Saint John's community by:

  • Meet up on weekends, breaks or whenever suits
  • Do activities together
  • Chat to assist with English development (for some students)
  • Enjoy and learn about each other's culture
  • CSB/SJU International students and community members becoming friends
