Retreat on Race and Ethnicity

The Annual RORE program is a three day retreat that creates a safe atmosphere for intercultural dialogue and learning at a deep level. RORE prepares its participants to work with people of other races, ethnicities and cultures. Participants engage in insightful discussion and activities that bring the realities of racism, privilege, bigotry and class to the forefront.

  •   Create an enviroment where individuals explore and push their comfort zones on issues of race and ethnicity.
  •   Explore origins, manifestations, and perceptions of race and ethnicity.
  •   Examine issues of race and racial identity development.
  •   Begin building bridges and strengthen relations between different campus racial groups.
  •   Become an advocate for issues of race and ethnicity on our campus.

When is my next chance to participate?
There will be another RORE in the upcoming Fall semester, on September 26th and 27th.

How do I participate?
Watch out for e-mails from Andy Dirksen and the Intercultural Center. There will be more information sent out about the application process.

How much is the cost?
Absolutely nothing! Just a weekend of fun and inspiring conversations and activities.

Do I need be an "expert" on race and ethnicity issues in order to be a part of RORE?
Although some knowledge would be helpful, we try to recruit a variety of students to form meaningful discussions.
