Government and Business Information Librarian

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Joint Libraries and Media Department at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invite applications for the full time, administrative position of Government and Business Information Librarian to begin August, 2009.  This position works with faculty and students to provide support for scholarship and creativity.  This Librarian provides reference, information literacy, collection development, outreach and liaison services for faculty/staff/students in the Management, Economics, and Accounting and Finance Departments and manages the Federal government information program.  In addition, the Government and Business Information Librarian shares responsibility for delivering instructional programs for the first year Seminar program.  This position will provide general and specialized reference services in a variety of environments, including in-person, telephone, email and online.

Qualifications:  ALA-Accredited Master's degree in Library Science required.  Undergraduate or graduate degree in government, economics, business or management related field is preferred.  Demonstrated understanding of both traditional and emerging scholarly and professional communication systems in business and management; understanding of the purposes and role of the library in liberal arts education; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated skill in providing instruction to groups and individuals.  Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.  Familiarity with academic assessment techniques and programs as well as knowledge of numeric and spatial data resources is preferred.  Experience working in a Government Documents collection is preferred.
