Interim Public Services Librarian

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The joint Libraries at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invite applications for a full-time, academic year position of Interim Public Services librarian.  This position will begin August 15, 2008 - May 15, 2009.  This position provides a wide variety of services and materials relevant to the goals and academic programs of the two institutions.  Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:  provide reference service for users of Alcuin and Clemens Libraries and participate in statewide consortial reference services; assist in reference staff training and development and develop and maintain Web pages in assigned subject areas and as appropriate for reference, bibliographic instruction, and general public services needs.  Additional responsibilites may include maintain awareness of the curricular and library needs, interests, and future directions of assigned academic departments as assigned; communicate with departmental bibliographers regarding materials allocations, status, orders, etc.; provide supplementary book selection in support of the department and aid in replacing lost and damaged books and in processing gift books.

Qualifications:  Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school is preferred or equivalent professional-level experience.  A second Master’s degree in another subject area is a plus.  Strong written and oral communications skills with the commitment to working in a collaborative environment.
