Head Hockey Coach

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Athletic Department at Saint John’s University is seeking self-motivated and results-oriented candidates for the open position of Head Hockey Coach.  Saint John's University is surrounded by 2,700 acres of woods and lakes in Collegeville, Minnesota located about 70 miles northwest of the Twin Cities.  

The Head Hockey Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and works under the division of Student Development.  The Head Hockey Coach is responsible for conducting the Saint John’s hockey program with integrity and under the rules and mission of Saint John’s University, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III.  The successful incumbent will recruit qualified, talented prospective student-athletes; manage the budget apportioned to the hockey program and coach a successful and responsible program that reflects positively on the University.  For more information about the SJU Hockey Program, visit http://www.gojohnnies.com/hockey/.

Minimum Qualifications:  Baccalaureate degree required; master’s degree preferred.  Proven experience in coaching and student recruitment for a successful collegiate hockey program; head hockey coaching experience preferred.   An understanding of the mission and rules governing MIAC and NCAA Division III athletics. Strong verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal relations skills to build positive working relationships with internal and external clientele.
