Saint John's University office of Campus Life is seeking a qualified and dynamic professional to serve as the Director of Residential Life. This full time administrator reports to the Dean of Students and is responsible for the overall management and supervision of a comprehensive residential life program which houses over 1400 students in residence halls, suites, and apartments. The Director will lead the residential life staff, guided by the institution’s mission as a residential, liberal arts college for men in the Catholic, Benedictine tradition. The Director is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and ongoing support of the resident assistants. The Director will play a pivotal role on the Campus Life team carefully monitoring and improving the quality of the residential experience while maintaining the Saint John’s tradition. The Director is also responsible for the training and ongoing support of the Faculty Residents (FRs) and for promoting the Benedictine character of Saint John’s University Residential Life programs. The Director will manage all aspects of the residential life and housing program including the marketing of the residence halls to students for the lottery, budget management and housing projections, room selection and placement, housing appeals, renovations and upgrades, and updates of Residential Life information as needed for the J-Book, website, and other publications. The Director works closely with the staff of other departments within student development at both Saint John’s University and the College of Saint Benedict.
Masters degree is required. Prior experience living and working in the residence halls in a supervisory capacity is preferred. The successful candidate will have the ability to supervise employees and work with employees in a residential life setting.
