Saint John's Arboretum and the Department of Environmental Studies at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invite applications for the full time (92%) position of Department Coordinator. This is a key position for both the Arboretum and the Environmental Studies Department. As the hub of the daily operations, this person must understand the roles of all team members and organize and prioritize all the incoming requests and standing duties in an efficient process to achieve our institutional missions. The department coordinator will independently be responsible for advancing Arboretum communications (newsletter and web site) and membership services as well as the organization of the Arboretum office and supervision of student office workers; will lead in processing the finances and donations of Arboretum members; locate potential funding sources, write grant proposals in conjunction with other Arboretum staff, and prepare grant reports.
In addition, the department coordinator for Environmental Studies serves as the manager of the department office, administrative assistant to the department chair, and provides administrative support for department faculty and related programs. This may include the production of departmental written materials, maintenance of student and financial records, planning and coordination of events, supervision of student employees, and a range of activities supporting faculty teaching, grant writing, and research.
Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree; preferably in related fields of environment, natural sciences, writing, marketing, communication, or English or have obtained equivalent experience. The successful incumbent will provide demonstrated written and oral communication skills; good organizational and time-management skills and be detail oriented with excellent follow-through ability.
