Academic Advisor/Management

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Academic Advising at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invite applications for the full time position of Academic Advisor/Management.  This position is responsible for providing academic advising and support for students and faculty on the CSB/SJU campuses.  In addition to general advising, this position has a primary focus of academic advising for Management Majors.  The academic advisor will also serve as department liaison with students on probation, particularly management students; assist with summer registration and orientation activities for first year students;  provide workshops or presentations on academic issues;  assist in data collection for annual reports and work on special projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in management, business administration, education, counseling, administration, student development or related field.  Experience working with students in a liberal arts college setting is a plus.  Experience with current academic advising techniques and technologies and/or learning support systems.  Some experience in working with academic advising as well as student development programs is preferred.  Must have the ability to work with students, faculty, and administration in a higher education environment.  Relevant management or business experience is an asset.  This position requires: skill in effective and accurate written and oral communication; empathetic listening; interpersonal relationships; innovative and critical thinking; flexibility and consistency in decision-making; rapid comprehension of new information and the ability to use word processing and database software.
