Director of Culinary Services

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT 

The Culinary Services Department of the College of Saint Benedict invites applications for the position of Director of Culinary Services to begin July 1, 2009. 

The College of Saint Benedict is a four-year residential liberal arts college for women located in St. Joseph, MN.  In 2007 the College opened a state-of-the-art Gorecki Dining and Conference Center.  With a seating capacity of 400, the campus dining hall offers a wide array of stations, including a Mongolian grill, deli, home-style foods, pizza, pasta, salad bar, American grill, desserts, and more. The Culinary Services Department also includes a catering operation, several grab-and-go locations offering ready-made options, and a campus coffee shop.  The Director develops and administers operating budgets and oversees all aspects of the culinary services operations in accordance with applicable laws and College policies/procedures.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Food Service Management, Dietetics, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or a related field preferred.  Must have a minimum of five years of progressive management experience in a complex food service operation. Demonstrated supervisory, leadership, and human resource management experience to effectively administer and manage within a diverse and complex organization including recruitment, hiring, evaluation, compensation, time management, training, and safety programs. Experience with employee issues including interpretation of applicable laws, regulations, polices, and contracts. Related operations management experience in a high volume, high quality, diverse, multi-unit operation including but not limited to financial and labor management and technology information systems. Demonstrated commitment to and experience with diverse populations.
