Director, St. John's Abbey Retirement Center

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

St. John's Abbey Retirement Center invites applications for the full time position of Director.  This position is responsible for both direct and indirect care of monks needing residential or convalescent care.  The successful candidate enjoys hands-on nursing and possesses knowledge of medical and nursing principles procedures and ethics as well as the ability to provide leadership, training and direction to the nursing and residential care staff.  This position works in cooperation with Abbey leadership and other departments of the Order of Saint Benedict to plan a program of care that meets the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each resident monk and enabling each to live a dignified monastic life according to his particular abilities. 

Qualifications:  Current Minnesota RN license is required; Baccalaureate degree or above in Nursing preferred.  Professional experience in Geriatric nursing care and in nursing supervision; ability to plan and manage department budget.  Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job which include the ability to frequently lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.  Excellent communication skills are required in order to interact professionally with residents, staff, students and visitors.  As a condition of employment, a successful completion of a physical examination and background check is required.  Flexibility of work schedule is required to meet the needs of the department.
