The Valladolid Program was developed for CSB/SJU students in 2006 by Professor José Antonio Fábres, Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies, as a means for students to complete the language requirement in a matter of weeks. This program also allows students to study abroad who may otherwise not have the time or the chance. The Valladolid Program was a favorite of Prof. Fábres and he directed it many times before passing away in 2012.

"I have always been fascinated by Spain and its diverse people. My greatest joy and interest in taking students to Spain is to show them that there is a world to be discovered, a world that is found beyond the walls of the USA. It is highly rewarding to see students open up to new ideas and to new ways of doing things."   - José Antonio Fábres
