Important information: The placement exam is a tool used to help determine where your high school level of Spanish corresponds to the course levels at CSB/SJU. The exam is not a means to "test out" of the global language proficiency requirement, nor do you receive credit for your score or placement. Therefore, to avoid skewing your proper placement, we strongly advise you not to study for the exam or use study materials while taking the exam.
Your placement will be displayed after you finish the exam. You can always check your placement any time by logging back into the exam.
Spanish Proficiency Exam
Students whose scores place them in HISP 212 and who do not plan to major or minor in Hispanic Studies have the option to take the Spanish Proficiency Exam, a three-part exam that consists of reading, writing, and oral (optional) components. Students must pass two of the three components to satisfy the Global Language Proficiency Requirement. This exam is only administered on campus by appointment. Contact Mary Niedenfuer at [email protected] or call (320) 363-5067 for more information or to make an appointment to take the proficiency exam.
