CSB Health Advocate Staff & Volunteers

Fall '09 Health Advocates:

Alison Gresback

Breanna Peterson (Advisory Committee)

Pre-med: Biology major, Spanish Minor

As a senior, this is my fourth and final year as part of the Health Advocate team. I am on the Advisory Committee, the Alcohol Committee, and the Sexual Health Committee. The HA team has given me many opportunities for leadership, learning and integrating health behaviors into my life. I have seen how important preventative medicine is, and I will apply my knowledge from this job to my practice as a physician. This group of women would not be successful without the creativity, passion, and personality all the ladies bring to each and every thing we do. With our new peer space in the Health Center, we can take our messages further. I am excited for a fantastic year!

Cait Carr (Advisory Committee)

Christy Chan

Emily Spiegeler

Erin Connelly

Heather Cederholm

I am a member of the Illness Prevention, Sexual Health, Nutrition, and Strategic Planning Committees. When I applied to be a Health Advocate before I started college, I thought it would look good for medical school. However, since deciding on a much different path for my post-graduate life, I am proud to say that I enjoy the variety of ideas, people, requests, possibilities, opportunities, topics, and co-workers that I have had experienced during throughout my four years as an HA!  I continued to stay involved because of the flexible schedule, passion that the staff shares, and the caring and creative people that I get to work with! I am excited to see the Health Center’s services be both promoted and utilized on campus. I am also excited to see how the new space for Counseling & Health Promotion’s Health Advocates, Buzzed, CERTS, counseling, and health center will be best used by both the staff and students at the College of Saint Benedict.

Kaitlin Andreasen

Major: Psychology; Minor: Communications and Spanish
Year: Junior
Role: Member of the Health Trolley Committee and Member of the Illness and Prevention Committee
Why I Chose to be an HA: I enjoy being an HA because I love to share my passion for total-body health (mind, body and spirit) with others!!!
Hopes for this year: Through the HA programs and events, I hope that all Bennies will be encouraged to make healthy lifestyle changes to live the lives they love!!!! :)

Katie Isham

My name is Katie Isham and I am a senior Psychology major. As part of the Health Advocates team, I work on the Nutrition and Exercise committees. I chose to be a Health Advocate because I believe it is important to be conscious of how you are taking care of your body, and I also think that being a part of a group of students that dedicate themselves to spreading this message is a great opportunity! I enjoy seeing what a group of students can accomplish on this campus in terms of health promotion. Making sure that other students are aware of the wonderful opportunities for maintaining and improving their health on campus is one of my hopes. I also hope that we will be able to provide activities and services that the students are most interested in. We are here for the students and I hope that we will be able to get that message out there that maintaining and improving your health can be fun, and has endless benefits!

Kristi Severance

I am a senior psychology major and I have been with Health Advocates since I was a first year. I am chair of the nutrition committee. Health Advocates is such an awesome organization that I jumped at the chance of being a part of it. We do so much to help out our peers in the areas of health and wellness and you couldn’t find a more involved and caring group of people. I hope this year will be full of new programs and campaigns that really meet the students’ needs. Remember, that’s who we work for!

Megan Solheid

My name is Megan Solheid and I’m a sophomore psychology major with a minor in Biology. My role on the Health Advocate team includes the Health trolley and Illness and Prevention committees. I chose to become an HA because I have always had a passion for helping people and making sure they have the tools to be the best version of themselves they can be. After my first year of college, I realized it is difficult to stay healthy at college. So, my hope for Health Advocates this year is to reach out to an even broader audience at CSB and make sure everyone has the resources and tools they need to make the right decisions about their health now that they are on their own. I hope we can make a lasting positive impact on students’ mental, emotional, and physical health. I cannot wait for a great year!

Molly Noel

My name is Molly Noel and I am a junior here at CSB majoring in Business Management and Communication. I am on the Cross Country and Track & Field team and looking forward to study abroad in London this spring semester. This is my second semester as an HA and I absolutely love it! I am on the exercise and alcohol committees working hard to create programs that reach the entire student body. As busy college students, it is hard to always make healthy decisions. I hope that you find these programs developed by your HA’s to help motivate you to integrate healthy living into your everyday choices.

Volunteers

Carrie Abrams

My name is Carrie Abrams and I am a senior Dietetics major. This is my first year volunteering with the Health Advocates and I really enjoy it. I wanted to join the HA team because I am very passionate about health and wellness and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. The committee that I am involved with is the Health Trolley. My hopes for the HA team this year is to bring more awareness to the study body about making healthy choices in their lifestyle. I also hope the HA team can make the resources on campus more well known.

Kristen Decker

Kristina DeMuth

Missy Koch

I am a senior dietetics major here at CSB and will be graduating this fall.  I volunteer with Health Advocates because I think it’s important to promote healthy lifestyles to college-aged people to hopefully instill in them a desire to live that way after college.  My overall goal is to use my nutrition knowledge to provide students with a basic understanding of the importance of food and nutrition in their overall health. Last year, I helped start the Health Trolley program in the first-year residence halls, which was a blast!  I am on the nutrition committee this semester, in which we’ve started a new program called Sunday Staples in the upper-class residence halls. This program has a lot of potential and I hope we are able to see it succeed as the semester goes on.
