Earth-Mind-Body-Soul Week
Earth-Mind-Body-Soul is a new program begun by the Health Advocates in the fall of 2007.  We wanted to promote a holistic health message—that women need to be healthy in mind, body and spirit, and recognize our connection with the earth around us.  The main goal:  Empower women in a variety of aspects and to promote the presence of Health Advocates on campus.

Night To Fight Cancer

The Health Advocates have sponsored this event for a number of years and we have found the campus participation to be astounding.  In past years the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University communities have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.  This year, "A Night To Fight Cancer" takes place on February 16, 2008 and will be donating all proceeds to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota to help a little boy named Hunter who is battling leukemia. The walk is located in the HCC field house from 5-11 and all are welcome.  Please go to the Health Advocate homepage under Upcoming Events to register a team. At least 2 people must be on a team, but there is no limit to how many members can be on a team.  If you do not have a team do not be discouraged, send us an email and we will match you with a team!

Wellness Fest

Wellness Fest, coordinated by the Health Advocates and the CSB Health At Work, is held annually in October.  This event encourages interaction between various area medical and health professionals, students, faculty, and staff. Wellness Fest offers an opportunity for students, as well as faculty and staff, to meet with a variety of heath professions to educate and inform them about health and wellness services available.

Love Your Body Week

Each spring, this week is dedicated to showing that all women, especially Bennies, are beautiful! Jenny Miller of CSB/SJU Counseling and Health Promotion works with the Health Advocates, Center for Women and the St. Ben's Senate to plan events for this week. Programming often includes eating disorder awareness, massages, the Century Project, media campaigns and more.

Breast Cancer Awareness

This week is put on annually in October. The message of the week is to promote breast cancer awareness amongst students and staff through a variety of activities. These generally include having Pink Shirt day, handing out pink ribbons at the bus stops, informational booths where students and staff can pick up pamphlets on breast cancer or learn how to feel for breast lumps and going around to the dorms to pass out self breast exam shower cards. Numerous other campus groups generally collaborate with the HA's to help make the week a success. The overall purpose is to encourage and help develop healthly habits now so that they continue in the future.
