Mission: The mission of the Health Advocates is to promote student wellness through integrating living, healthy choices, and self-responsibility. The Health Advocates pursue this mission by providing programming that encompasses the health of the whole person-including the body, mind, and spirit.
Who we are: The Health Advocates (HA's) are a group of CSB women who are chosen through a selection process in the spring and fall. The HA's participate in orientation and training in the fall and attend weekly meetings throughout the academic year. The HA program is a peer-based outreach program sponsored by the CSB Heath Education Office.
What we do: Certain specialty topics are emphasized by the HA's in order to advise and present detailed information to students. A few if these topics include: self-esteem building, sexuality, alcoholism, and time/stress management. The HA's also visit and present for fist year residence halls. These visits allow students to become aware of the HA resources on campus.
The HA presence on campus increases every year with the addition of extensive programming. Current events sponsored by the Health Advocates include: Earth, Mind, Body, Soul Week, Wellness Fest, Breast Cancer Awareness, National Smoke Out Day, AIDS Awareness Week, A Night To Fight Cancer (a walk to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation of Minnesota), Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Sleepless in St. Joe, and HPV Awareness.
Disclaimer: The CSB HA's are student employees and due to the nature of their backgrounds, are not offering medical advice of any sort. Any health concerns should be directed to a primary health professional.
