Dear CSB/SJU Faculty and Staff,
Grants can invent the future of an institution, as well as serve the present. As we work together towards our ambition of being national liberal arts colleges, consider that grant seeking can be an important means towards that end. Grants are pursued by the most prestigious institutions. Successful grants increase visibility for faculty careers. Grants can bring value to students in classrooms and involve students in meaningful research activities. Most importantly, grants create societal value through the research, teaching, curricular and field applications that they create and disseminate.
The College and University leadership is committed to supporting you in your efforts to raise funds for the institution. I invite you to discuss your program ideas with me, Dean Joe DesJardins, or your vice president. When you are ready to pursue external funding, utilize the resources and expertise available in our corporate foundation relations offices by contacting Catherine Stoch, Director of Corporate Foundation Relations at CSB, or John Taylor, Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement at SJU. Whether you are a chemist, artist, or political scientist, your grant seeking efforts will help strengthen our collective future.
Thank you for your service to the College and University and for taking up the challenge of successful grants creation.
Sincerely,
Rita Knuesel
Provost
