CSB and SJU graduates find success
August 30, 2012
By Erica Rademacher, assistant director Career Services
Annually, CSB/SJU Career Services conducts a survey of graduating seniors to understand their first step out of CSB/SJU. Alumnae/i in each class are contacted within 12 months of graduation and over 90 percent of CSB and SJU graduates respond to the survey. The response rate is extremely high; numerous colleges and universities report this data based on 50 percent or less of respondents.
For the CSB and SJU classes of 2011, the data confirms our graduates are continuing to find success, despite economic challenges and high unemployment rates. Of the 96.9 percent respondents to the CSB/SJU survey for classes of 2011, 98.7 percent of graduates report being employed full time (70.7 percent), continuing their education (15.3 percent), engaged in full-time volunteer service (7.8 percent), in the military (1.7 percent) or working part time (3.2 percent).
Of the same respondents, 89 percent of the graduates self-reported utilization of Career Services. Services may include career fairs, individual appointments, workshops, hearing from panels of alumnae/i, on-campus interviewing, social media groups and E-Link, among others. We feel confident saying that, when a Bennie and/or Johnnie utilizes Career Services, he/she is more likely to find success within the first year after graduation.
We hope you will share this information with your son and/or daughter and begin discussing ways he/she can utilize the services we offer. We look forward to another successful year.
