Ramon is an Ambassador who studied abroad in London
Major: Global Business Leadership
Minor: Computer Science
Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you decide on this program?
I chose to study abroad because I wanted to experience life abroad like my family has. I also wanted to see if I can make it while being abroad. I chose London because I was interested in their internship program. I was also interested in the business classes that they held over there in London.
Briefly describe a specific cultural experience you had on your trip that made a lasting impression.
My internship's farewell party for me was one of the most meaningful and lasting impressions that I had in London. They sent me off with a British lunch that included fish and chips, and many other London goodies.
Describe your overall study abroad experience.
It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I lived with a great group of people that made the experience even more meaningful. I learned a lot about British Culture through experience and not through textbooks. I was able to travel throughout Europe and experience tiny bits of other people's abroad experience and it was great.
Based on your experiences abroad, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
Going to London has contributed so much to my professional development. Being a Global Business Leadership Major, I was able learn first hand how the business in one culture is different from in the US. I was able to see the similarities and differences and now i feel as if I am more prepared to work in the Business world.
What advice can you offer for CSB/SJU students who are considering or planning to study abroad?
Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. One quote that has helped me decide what I want to do is 'there is no growth in the comfort zone and there is no comfort in the growth zone". It has helped me grow as a person, grow as a student, and grow professionally. It was one of the reasons why I wanted to go abroad and one of the reasons I chose London.
