Todd Shomion, a 1997 graduate of Saint John’s University, credits CSB/SJU and the curriculum of the management department for his success in life. Todd came to St. John’s from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul. He was originally interested in the institution because “it was the perfect blend of academics and community.” He also recognized the importance of attending to an institution that recognized his religious roots.
While attending CSB/SJU, Todd decided to place his academic emphasis in the area of Business Management. He was drawn to the major because the curriculum covered topics that were readily useful in the “real-life” business world. He enjoyed the hands-on classroom atmosphere and the creative problem solving and discussion that took place on a daily basis. The skills he obtained in the classroom still help him in his current position.
After graduating from St. John’s, Todd worked at Ernst and Young and Best Buy as a consultant. Although he enjoyed both positions, he decided he wanted to take on the challenge of the compliance and risk management field. He is currently employed as an International Business Development Manager at Paisley Consulting, which is the global leader in business accountability solutions that integrate Sarbanes Oxley Compliance, Audit Automation and Operational Risk Management. Todd travels all over the world selling solutions and increasing awareness of the severity of ethics and risk management.
Todd would not change anything about his four years at SJU. Todd made many friends that he “stood along side from Freshmen Orientation to the walk through the Abbey on Graduation.” He comes back on an annual basis to relive those nostalgic feelings and to feel the welcoming sense of community he felt from day one.
Todd encourages prospective students to visit the campus and talk to alumni. This is the only way to truly experience all that St. Ben’s and St. John’s have to offer.
