The GWST major and minor enhance the lives of male and female students by fostering a more critical understanding of how gender and related issues, especially sexuality and power, shape our culture's thinking about the values of being male and female.
The GWST major and minor encourage students to integrate personal dimensions of their lives into their academic pursuits in profound and often transformative ways. In addition, GWST courses are often starting points for a continuous reconsideration of how our class, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and national affiliation influence our views.
The GWST program offers sufficient course offerings and faculty participation (across disciplines and across gender) so that all students can find classes that will be of interest to them and that will enhance their education and curriculum.
