November 12:  Annie Griffiths Belt, will talk about her new book,  A Camera, Two Kids, and a Camel: My Journey in Photographs, Renaissance Speakers’ Series, 7:00pm, Gorecki 204 (contact Ozzie Mayers) About Annie’s book:"In this charming and captivating volume, National Geographic photographer Annie Griffiths Belt discloses the secrets of a peripatetic life, revealing in often hilarious detail how she managed to juggle two children, bulky cases of camera equipment, and everything needed for a nurturing family life as she traveled to far-flung destinations around the world. February 11-14: Jack Zipes, presentation and attend classes Dr. Zipes is a well known author of numerous studies on folk/fairy tales. His research focuses on all aspects of the oral and written tradition of fairy tales, with emphasis on the socialization of boys and girls into                            culture via folk/fairy tales.  His current research examines the translation of fairy tales into film over the recent decades and analyzes how visual depictions in film have changed the social messages embedded in the tales. The Minnesota GLBTA Campus Alliance is proud to announce its 3rd annual statewide conference discussing the issues facing GLBTA students, staff, faculty and community members at all Minnesota colleges and universities. The theme this year is Beyond the Vote: Moving Forward Together, and will be  hosted at Minnesota State University - Mankato. The Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference (MOCC) Planning Committee is currently putting together a fantastic lineup of keynotes, workshops, entertainment and networking opportunities -- save the date for this important conference!

April 3-5, 2009
The American Men's Studies Association invites papers, panels, and undergraduate and general roundtable discussions for AMSA's 17th Annual Conference on Men and Masculinities scheduled for April 3-5, 2009 in Montreal. The conference theme is "Beyond Borders: Masculinities and Margins." Presentations should reflect on the construction, reconstruction, and effects of borders of all types as well as the men and the practices of masculinities that fashion, feel, respond to, and seek to cross from the margins over these divides. Other academic papers on masculinities are also welcome. National Women's Studies Association 2009 Conference, November 12-15, 2009

The NWSA Annual Conference is moving from June to November beginning in 2009.
