The Professor of Gender Education and Development is given to a faculty member who has made significant contribution to gender education and development through teaching, research and committee work.
This professorship supports CSB/SJU in carrying out a central tenet of its Coordinate Mission: “An emphasis on the personal growth of women and men which incorporates new knowledge about the significance of gender into opportunities for leadership and service on each campus and across both campus” and highlights the important role of gender development at CSB/SJU.
In addition to teaching gender-related courses and having dedicated time for gender research, this professor works closely with the director of the Gender and Women Studies’ program, helps coordinate the Women’s Lives/ Men’s Lives series, acts as a liaison between the Academic and Student Development areas, and is a key representative of gender awareness for Strategic Directions.
