.....Presenting an exhibit entitled One-A-Day
May 26 - July 29, 2009
Gallery Lounge, CSB
Artist Reception: June 27, 3:00-5:00 PM
"In the severe January of 2009, when being in my home studio was a delight and painting outdoors impossible, I began this body of work called “One-A-Day”. I needed a strong measure of self-discipline. I painted, one painting a day, three to four days a week. The objective of this venture was to work deliberately and quickly, to explore what I could do with my photos, still lifes and a bit of imagination."
"My work is meant to amplify what I see and convey my viewpoint through color and lively brush strokes. I want to snag the viewer with a painter’s editing observation of the ordinary and everyday."
"In the greater sense, the canvas is a painter’s mirror, and the gathering of emotional and aesthetic components reveals aspects of self. There is an inner dialogue and inquiry that happens when I paint. In a real sense both an investigation and a request for information from the subject matter. It is my great joy as a painter to synthesize and capture this exchange."
"One-A-Day is akin to shorthand; the information is pared down to the essential."
