John F. Kennedy Center Partnership

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University Fine Arts Programming department and St. Cloud School District 742 are members of the Performing Arts Centers and Schools: Partners in Education Program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  Selected because of their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of education in and through the arts, the partnership team participates in collaborative efforts to make the arts integral to education.

The Kennedy Center

As America's national center for the performing arts, and as a leader in the development of arts education policy and programming, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is committed to developing educational resources and programs to share with cultural centers and schools across the country.

Since 1976, the Kennedy Center has presented professional development opportunities for teachers, an ongoing series of workshops in which more than 1,700 teachers annually from 14 Washington metropolitan area school systems explore the potential the arts have for enhancing every student's education.

In 1991, an an outgrowth of this program, the Kennedy Center initiated the Partners in Education program, designed to create and encourage partnerships throughout North American between cultural organizations and their local school systems, with a special emphasis on the professional development of teachers.  Currently, communities in 40 states, the District of Columbia and Mexico participate in the program.  Visit their website: Kennedy Center.
