ARTIST STATEMENT: Kris Fremo
Recollection is my first solo collection of work on the theme of motherhood, a project that began during my studies in graduate school. It is a narrow slice of a much larger collection of images. I found the subject that I was most interested in was right under my feet every day. I didn't need to go far to find something to inspire me. While I create many kinds of art, my greatest passion of late lies in photography and more specifically in photographing people. All of these images were created in my home studio and printed by hand on fine art bamboo paper. The frames were made by my husband, David, in his home workshop.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Art and Education from the College of Saint Benedict, in St. Joseph, MN, as well as a Master's Degree in Digital Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, GA. I currently in my fifteenth year of teaching as an instructor of art at Saint John's Preparatory School in Collegeville, MN and I have my own photography business, Sunny Day Pictures. I have always loved making art of all kinds and very much enjoy other creative outlets including gardening, writing and coaching. I live with my husband and two daughters in Collegeville, MN.
