How Do I Become a College Mentor?

Step 1: Online Tour of Web Site

Review the information on this website in order to more fully understand what the Fast Forward Youth Program is and how it works.  Contact the FFYP staff with any questions.

Step 2: Complete Online Application

Complete the online application for new College Mentors. After filling in the appropriate information, click on the "SUBMIT" button.  We will contact you to verify that we have received your application and to confirm your interview time.

If you have volunteered with us before, you are considered a Returning College Mentor and should complete the Returning CM Application.

Step 3: Interview

Once we have recieved and reviewed your application, an FFYP staff member will contact you to confirm the time and place of your interview.  After your interview, we will notify you as soon as possible whether or not you have been accepted to the program.  This notification often takes place the same day of the interview.

Step 4:  College Mentor Training

After being notified of your acceptance to our volunteer program, you will be asked to select one of three dates and times for training.  College Mentor training will prepare you for your work with student participants, explain our rules and expectations, and offer you the opportunity to meet some of your fellow volunteers.

Step 5:  Sign College Mentor Contract

Upon completion of the College Mentor Training, we will review the College Mentor Contract thoroughly and answer any questions that you might have.  A copy of your signed College Mentor Contract is kept on file in the Fast Forward Youth Program office.
