Additional information on coaching certification:
  1. It is the student's responsibility to pick up a form at the registrars' office called "Audit for a Minor." Complete the form with the courses completed and the courses you are intending to complete in the proper section. Bring the completed form to the Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies chair for a signature.
  2. The Coaching Practicum may be completed prior to graduation or the student may complete Practicum after graduation and submit the course requirements to the Practicum Coordinator (Janna LaFountaine ) upon completion.
  3. Employment as a coach after graduation may fulfill the Practicum requirement. However, please consult with the Practicum Coordinator regarding restrictions on the type of coaching experiences that will fulfill this requirement.
  4. The Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies receives a number of requests for Independent Learning Projects (ILPs) each year due to course scheduling conflicts or potential overloading of credits. The department policy is to discourage ILPs as the quality of the learning experience is not the same as the traditional college course.
  5. The Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies encourages students to begin taking the coaching courses early in his/her college career.
