English

Jack Doyle ’23

Where do you call home?

Dubuque, Iowa

Why did you decide to major in the English Department?

I chose to study English because it allows me to further pursue passions in writing and reading. I also believe that the English curriculum has challenged me to think about the world around me in radically different ways.

What has been your favorite English Department class? Why?

ENGL 381: Literature by Women. It introduced me to literary voices like Claudia Rankine and Clarice Lispector. We looked over relevant, vibrant texts that address important world issues.

What are you looking forward to as a student in the English Department?

I am thrilled to begin tutoring in the Writing Center this fall. I look forward to working with my peers and cultivating relationships with writing as a common ground.
