Samantha Henningson |
Major: English
Minor: none
- Special Achievements:
I learned to take deep breaths and keep moving. Survived living with ten women—and am better for it. Initiated various forms of conversation about justice, politics, and the intricacies of personal growth. A wise woman has often reminded me to take it a day at time. This has allowed me to figure out what I value: love, people with all of their quirks, family, books, jazz, the rawness of nature. The people in this place over the past four years have allowed me both the space and the proximity to become aware of the energies that constantly wash over and through us. I’ve learned that life can’t be boiled down to a resume, but that living my life deliberately and according to my values will be how I present myself to the world.
Immediate plans after graduation: Decompress from four years of chaotic brilliance. Take what I’ve gained from this place and these people and do something palpable with it. I will love, play, laugh, and learn . . . hard. I will volunteer, soak everything in, and while I see people as constant learners and teachers, I just might end up in a more official teacherly/professorly type role. Or I’ll do community organizing. Or both. I will continue being in awe of all of the crazy energy this world emits.
