Checklist: Undecided on Concentration

First Year

• Decide this year if you want to teach grades 5-12.  Contact an advisor in the English Department (either S. Mara Faulkner or Jane Opitz), preferably in the fall before spring registration. Choose this person as your official advisor in spring.
• Take English 133 as your 100-level course. 
• Ask the Deparatment Secretary to put your name on the English Department
  mailing list.
• See what career choices beside teaching are available to English majors with and without teaching credentials by contacting the Career Resource Center. 
• After talking with your English department adviser, you may want to consult an adviser in the Education Department about your intentions.
