Kevin Boggeman graduated from SJU in 2005 and is employed by Union Pacific Distribution Services (a subsidiary of major American railroad Union Pacific) and work in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico with the Ferrocarril Mexicano (the major Mexican railroad). His position is the Business Manager -ShipmentVision, and he helps the Mexican railroad monitor and organize its rail traffic and act as a liaison between the two companies.
He writes, "After graduating from CSB/SJU, I volunteered for two and a half years at an orphanage in Honduras. While there, I came to understand that I could create positive change through economics and business. Because of this, I enrolled in an overseas MBA program. Because of the Spanish language skills I had acquired in Honduras, last year I was hired to work with Mexican imports for UPDS, a logistics arm of Union Pacific Railroad. As business expanded, I was selected for my current role here in Mexico. Although I didn't realize it at the time, my English degree gave me a strong foundation of writing and communication skills. I have come to learn that not everybody in the professional world can write well. My ability to communicate clearly through writing has been a major asset in my short career. Also, I believe that the examination of literature helped my critical and creative thinking skills. I believe this has enabled me to add perspective in meetings when few others have a similar educational background."
