All Saints Academy: America Reads
All Saints Academy is a merger of Sts. Peter, Paul and Michael School, St. Joseph Waite Park School, and St. Joseph Lab School. Together they are making a new and exciting school that combines the best features of our schools and focuses our resources to deliver an even better educational experience for their children. Their dedicated staff works hard at meeting the individual needs of all students while focusing on "whole" student: mind, body and spirit. They excel at providing a safe school environment focused on academic essentials. They consider each child a gift from God and are open to students and families of all faith traditions looking for the best education rooted in the Catholic tradition. It is their goal to help them find success in their educational journey.
The America Reads program provides support to teachers, caregivers, parents and librarians in order to enhance children's language learning and reading. The program not only gives college students an opportunity for part-time employment, but it also provides them with a rich service learning experience.
America Reads Tutor: Work with local businesses and public library in developing programs/activities to enhance literacy skills at local workplaces and in the community as a whole. Coordinate with local Schools, Family Literacy Team in family literacy programming development and outreach. Strengthen and expand CSB/SJU America Reads program through ongoing evaluation, training and communication efforts. Develop volunteer component to CSB/SJU America Reads in conjunction with America Reads program stakeholders. Address sustainability issues regarding CSB/SJU America Reads program through outreach and resource development as well as enhancement of program/college/community collaboration.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Since 1969 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As a member of the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 5 through 14 (once matched the match can continue until the child turns 18), in communities across a five county service area: Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Morrison, and the northern tier of Wright County. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
Marketing and Graphic Design Worker: Responsibilities include develop and implement marketing, graphic design, and business skills, working closely with resource development and volunteer recruitment, as a part of a dynamic team that makes a positive impact on 1000s of children's lives.
Catholic Charities: Bel Claire Estates
Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization that advances the charitable and social mission of the Diocese of St. Cloud. We build communities, promote family life, and enhance human dignity by providing quality services to meet the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals and families of all faiths and beliefs. Catholic Charities' Immigrant and Refugee Services seeks to provide support to immigrants and refugees in St. Cloud, MN. This support comes in the form of both direct services as well as advocacy for structural changes that inhibit achievement and growth in minority populations. Services for the youth are offered through the Caritas Youth Program which is currently seeking to nurture educational achievement for immigrant populations at Bel Clare Estates.
Tutor: Tutors assist students with homework and assist students with reading. Tutors are matched with one student or a small group of children to help with reading, math, science, and just about any subject.
Catholic Charities: Foster Grandparent Program
Children benefit from having seniors in their lives, and seniors benefit from having children in theirs. Catholic Charities Central Minnesota Foster Grandparent Program brings children and seniors together at schools and non-profit organizations throughout the Diocese of St. Cloud to benefit not only the organizations, but the entire community.
Student Coordinator: The Foster Grandparent Student Coordinator works closely with the Foster Grandparent Program staff as support for the overall management of the program. This person may be responsible for recruitment of new Foster Grandparent volunteers including displays, media articles, placing ads; conducting research in the sixteen county area to determine community needs and entering conclusions into database; maintaining Foster Grandparent records; assisting with planning & implementation of volunteer banquet; planning and executing an annual evaluation of one aspect of the program, and overall office management.
CSB Campus Ministry
The College of Saint Benedict's Campus Ministry is committed to accompanying women and all students on their spiritual journeys as they grow and deepen their lives of faith, regardless of their religious background or tradition. Steeped in the Catholic tradition, we offer a variety of events, programs and experiences and engage in interfaith dialogue that builds a strong community of inclusion based on the Gospel and Benedictine Values.
Spirituality and Social Justice Minister: The Student Campus Minister is expected to continue to develop skills in information technology, departmental organization, record-keeping, marketing and resource development. Personal initiative is expected, as well as daily communication with the supervisor. It is also expected that the Student Campus Minister willingly participate in discussion, planning, offering suggestions for improvement and decision-making. She/he will be working collaboratively with supervisors and team members, but also will be expected to work individually to carry out tasks assigned.
CSB Community Kitchen
The CSB Community Kitchen intends to serve people facing food insecurity where they are, instead of expecting people to come to us. In rural communities, churches are often the community gathering place and most churches have the infrastructure and kitchen space needed for meal reheating and preparation. Community organizations are also aware of the families experiencing high levels of need and could refer for a meals-on-wheels model, where meals are delivered to the homes in rural areas. There are a number of resources in St. Cloud available for people to access and receive a warm meal; however, in rural communities, access to healthy food and meals is more difficult to attain.
Meal Delivery Volunteer: As a Community Kitchen volunteer, you will join a cohesive team of fellow students dedicated to community engagement and social, environmental, and economic justice. You will work with our Operations Leaders to deliver surplus food to the meal site, serve the meals, and join in the meal and conversation with community members.
Office of Experiential Learning and Community Engagement
The Office of Experiential Learning & Community Engagement supports programs that empower CSB/SJU students to integrate and apply knowledge and theory gained in the classroom setting to a hands on learning environment, such that a deeper understanding is gained and demonstrated through clear learning outcomes. The office brings together students, faculty members, businesses, non-profit organizations and government partners to promote access to mutually beneficial partnerships through experiential learning opportunities.
Academic Coordinator: The Office of Experiential Learning and Community Engagement Academic Coordinator is responsible for acting as a resource and providing support to faculty, students, and community partners who are currently involved in service learning. This person works with and reports to the Service Learning Coordinator.
Bonner Student Coordinator: The Bonner Student Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Service-Learning/Bonner Fellow in providing support for the CSB/SJU Bonner leader program by serving as a resource for students, faculty, and community partners as well as assisting the Office of Experiential Learning & Community Engagement as a whole.
Eugene J McCarthy Center for Public Policy and Civic Engagement
The Eugene J. McCarthy Center for Public Policy and Civic Engagement, created in honor of the late Senator and St. John's graduate, fosters dialogue and involvement regarding politics, values, and public policy. The McCarthy Center facilitates opportunities for creative and integrated learning through programming and experiential learning on and off campus. In this day and age of "Crossfire" political reasoning and us/them political rhetoric, many young people are unfortunately steering away from political engagement. As a result, the faculty and core group of students from the Center work diligently to create venues for constructive, responsible and interesting civic debate and engagement in community affairs. Through events, conferences, lectures and social gatherings, the McCarthy Center gives students unique learning experiences.
Community Outreach Student Worker: The Community Outreach Student Worker will work to enhance the connection between CSB|SJU students and the greater community. This position will include many duties, such as development of social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and website). In addition, the student worker will plan and implement service trips, such as highway clean-ups, that will allow CSB|SJU students to participate in community service. Other responsibilities include organizing study tours to greater Minnesota to work on community and policy issues. Finally, the student worker will collaborate with student groups to promote involvement in on and off campus events.
Kennedy Elementary School KIDSTOP
Kennedy Elementary School is one of the local Elementary schools in St. Joseph, Minnesota. KIDSTOP is a school-age child care program for K-6 located at 13 schools in the St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids-Rice, Sartell-St. Stephen and ROCORI school districts. Kids love KIDSTOP because they have so many activities to choose from, including Power Hour homework help, computer access, gym activities, outdoor games, arts and crafts or just hanging out with friends. Parents love it because they know their kids are in the hands of youth guidance professionals who really care about them. KIDSTOP provides a way for parents to give their kids a quality before- and after-school experience at an affordable price. KIDSTOP gives kids daily opportunities that parents know are vital for their child's healthy growth.
Youth Guidance Worker: Youth guidance workers plan and lead a variety of activities with youth ages 5 to 18 in Boys & Girls Club programming.
Lutheran Social Services
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota expresses the love of Christ for all people through service that inspires hope, changes lives, and builds community. The Youth Resiliency Program is an extended day program for severely and emotionally disturbed youth who are attending day treatment or alternative schools.
Mental Health Youth Worker: Roles and responsibilities include to participate, role model, plan and lead in day to day social skills activities for youth ages 8-12 with a mental health diagnosis. Interns/volunteers will be able to engage with client in both a 1:1 and group settings in an after school mental health skill building service. Activities throughout the day include: social skills, leisure/recreational skills, art/expression skills, relaxation exercises, and family style dinner. Interns/volunteers will also have the opportunity to participate and experience group therapy and group clinical supervision (options to attend psychiatric consultations with LSS's counseling team). Lutheran Social Service works hard to provide and safe, trauma informed service to our clients and looks for individuals with a passion to learn and grow in the mental health field. This position requires students/volunteers to be flexible in daily tasks and responsibilities and expects individuals to be willing to multi-task.
Minnesota Street Market
The Minnesota Street Market's mission is to serve our members and community by providing high quality, natural foods, local art and other basic goods with a focus on local and organic products. Economic Access to Food Health Coordinator: Staff support the efforts of the General Manager and the Assistant Manager to ensure the safe, secure and financially sound operation of the Minnesota Street Market (MnSM). The student will assist with general store operations and customer service, marketing and social media, maintaining product freshness review and create/promote discount sales, reviewing short dated items and preparing donations for Zero Percent - a program designed to reduce food waste and increase access to healthy foods among disadvantaged communities.
Local Food Hub Promotions Worker: Staff support the efforts of the General Manager and the Assistant Manager to ensure the safe, secure and financially sound operation of the Minnesota Street Market (MnSM). The student will assist with general store operations and customer service, work with the general manager on the coordination, promotion, and operation of a Buying Club, outreach to communities with specialized dietary requirements (gluten free, etc, coordinate individuals to work collaboratively on menu planning to provide access to collective bulk purchases for a 20-30% discount Coordinate local producers to include as bulk vendors, expanding the market for locally produced food and marketing to expand membership and capacity for split case orders.
Southside Boys and Girls Club
For more than 35 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota has provided hope and opportunity to tens of thousands of young people. Our programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Club provides a safe haven for boys and girls when and where they need us most: every day after school and during the summer at three dedicated Club facilities on the North, South and East sides of St. Cloud.
Youth Guidance Worker: Youth guidance workers plan and lead a variety of activities with youth ages 5 to 18 in Boys & Girls Club programming.
St. Raphael's Retirement Center
The Abbey Health Care Program involves the care of all the Abbey members. This program provides basic first aid, referral, health care coordination, and an up-to-date health record within the monastery. The goals of this program are to reduce unnecessary health care costs and obtain some basic health information in the event of an emergency. This program also involves community, group and individual health education.
Nursing Assistant: Provide personal care for the residents of St. Raphael Retirement Center. Duties include transporting monks/fathers to daily mass, assisting them when they wake up in the morning (getting dressed, using the restroom, personal hygiene) and assisting them to bed (same as waking up, except putting on hospital gown), laundry, cleaning (dusting, emptying trash bins, mopping floors, disinfecting rooms) and serving meals.
St. John's Outdoor University
Saint John's Outdoor University provides environmental and outdoor education through classes, events, and iniatives with the Abbey Arboretum, St. John's University, and the College of St. Benedict. Saint John's Abbey Arboretum is more than 2,500 acres of lakes, prairie, oak savanna, and forest owned by Saint John's Abbey and surrounding Saint John's University.
Student Naturalist: As a student naturalist aide at the Saint John's Arboretum gives me the opportunity to connect with the community through assisting K-12 environmentally-focused field trips. By teaching youth about nature, we foster a love for the environment and our planet. I also help the Arboretum with the planning and implementing of events such as Collegeville Colors and maple syruping.
The Office of Sustainability at CSB
As a Benedictine institution, we take seriously our commitment to stewardship. As an institution of higher education, we have the duty to prepare students to be responsible citizens equipped to meet the social, ethical, local and global challenges of today. To achieve this goal, we have to be dedicated to creating a culture of sustainability on campus.
Sustainability Student Worker Network (SSN): create the office's monthly newsletter, update the office's website, and serve on the Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Committee and the Culinary Task Force Committee.

Resource Development Intern: United Way of Central Minnesota is focused on creating measurable results in the areas of Basic Needs and Education. We seek a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with an interest in non-profit fundraising who can work well with others and fill an integral role in our Resource Development department. This is a unique opportunity to develop and grow leadership skills, explore your relationship management style while working to find creative approaches to community solutions. This position will be supervised with direction from RD staff. We are located at 3001 Clearwater Road in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves: high school students from low-income families; and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
Tutor: The Upward Bound tutors are expected to support all aspects of the Upward Bound program, provide tutoring to Upward Bound participants, advise students on academic and personal matters, and assist when directed.
