Teacher Candidates’ Licensure Test Performance: 2000-2001 Academic Year

The federal government’s Higher Education Act of 1998 requires all teacher preparation institutions to report the test performance of their graduates on examinations required for licensure by the state in which those institutions are located.  During the 2000-2001 academic year Minnesota’s Board of Teaching required all students completing approved teacher preparation programs who sought licensure as elementary and secondary teachers to successfully complete the Pre-Professional Basic Skills examination (PPST) developed by the Educational Testing Service.  The following tables summarize performance on this test of basic academic skills for the 72 women and men completing our program during the 2000-2001 academic year.
