Programs offered include a major in Elementary Education, as well as minors in various Secondary and K-12 education programs. Click here for a list and descriptions of all Education Department courses.
A major in elementary education leads to general teacher licensure for grades K-6, and requires a supportive content specialty leading to middle level licensure for grades 5-8. Content specialties offered by the College of Saint Benedict / Saint John’s University include: Communication Arts/Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and World Languages (French, German, and Spanish).
A minor in secondary education leads to teacher licensure for grades 5-12. It supports a content/teaching major in Communication Arts/Literature, Mathematics, Science, or Social Science. A minor in secondary education can also support a non-licensed content/teaching major for teaching Theology in grades 5-12.
K-12 teacher licensure programs are available for content teaching majors in Art, Music, and World Languages (French, German, and Spanish).
