Program Highlight: Natural Science Major

This innovative program combines coursework leading to two Minnesota teaching licenses in one major: Physics, Chemistry or Life Science, grades 9-12 & General Science, grades 5-8. The result is a powerful combination of courses designed for students seeking Minnesota licensure in grades 5-12 to teach in the sciences.

What You'll Gain

At the completion of the teacher preparation program requirements for a 5-12 or 9-12 license in the sciences, students will have accomplished:

  • 140 hours in community-based immersive field experiences
  • An additional 600 hours during 16 weeks of student teaching
  • A program approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
  • Hands-on exposure to robotics and 3-D printing used in the schools
