Music Education

The B.A. degree in Music with a minor in Secondary Education includes both Choral and Instrumental course sequences.  This program is meant specifically for the professional training of K-12 teachers.  Both degree sequences are in full compliance with the Minnesota Board of Teaching Licensure requirements, NCATE accreditation, as well as the new National Standards for Arts Education.

What You'll Gain

At the completion of this program, students will have accomplished:  

  • 140 hours of student contact in the schools through field experiences
  • An additional 600 hours of student contact during 16 weeks of student teaching
  • A program approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
  • Opportunities for leadership through partnerships between CSB/SJU and local school(s) during Discover Your Future

  • Vocal Music Education, grades K-12
